KVKK Digital Literacy Project for Teachers

KVKK Digital Literacy Project for Teachers

Ankara — October 2025

The Personal Data Protection Authority of Türkiye (KVKK) has announced a new initiative to strengthen digital literacy and personal data awareness among teachers and school administrators. As part of the “Digital Literacy for a Secure Future” project, KVKK will organize nationwide seminars designed to help educators understand the importance of data protection in the digital age.

Seminar topics and participants

The project aims to bring together educators, guidance counselors, and information technology teachers to share knowledge and best practices around digital ethics, data privacy, and safe information use.
These sessions will cover key topics including:

  • Accessing and verifying information online
  • Digital ethics and footprints
  • Data security practices in schools
  • Protecting student privacy
  • Understanding Türkiye’s Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK)

The first seminars are being delivered to vice principals, guidance counselors, and IT teachers. The program will initially be rolled out in Ankara, Istanbul, İzmir, Konya, Antalya, Gaziantep, Diyarbakır, Mardin, and several other provinces, before expanding across the country.

Teachers’ role in the project

According to KVKK President Prof. Dr. Faruk Bilir said the project aimed to expand data-protection awareness through teachers.

His statement emphasized spreading personal-data protection and digital literacy, with teachers setting an example for school-age children.

The seminars give educators material they can use in their work with students.

Why It Matters

Schools can use the training to review how staff handle student information and explain privacy risks to students.

Training is most useful when staff can apply it to the school’s actual systems and procedures.
