Ankara — October 2025
The Personal Data Protection Authority of Türkiye (KVKK) has announced a new initiative to strengthen digital literacy and personal data awareness among teachers and school administrators. As part of the “Digital Literacy for a Secure Future” project, KVKK will organize nationwide seminars designed to help educators understand the importance of data protection in the digital age.
The project aims to bring together educators, guidance counselors, and information technology teachers to share knowledge and best practices around digital ethics, data privacy, and safe information use.
These sessions will cover key topics including:
The first seminars are being delivered to vice principals, guidance counselors, and IT teachers. The program will initially be rolled out in Ankara, Istanbul, İzmir, Konya, Antalya, Gaziantep, Diyarbakır, Mardin, and several other provinces, before expanding across the country.
According to KVKK President Prof. Dr. Faruk Bilir, the project represents a long-term investment in the nation’s digital future:
“Building a safe digital future is only possible with individuals who are aware of data protection and digital ethics. Our goal is to spread the culture of personal data protection and ensure that teachers play a pioneering role—especially for our school-aged children.”
By focusing on educators, KVKK hopes to create a ripple effect that extends awareness and best practices from classrooms to families and communities.
As Türkiye continues to strengthen its digital infrastructure and data protection standards, educational institutions play a critical role in cultivating privacy-conscious citizens. Projects like this are not just about compliance—they are about shaping a generation that understands the value of trust, transparency, and responsible data use.
At Kooch Cybersecurity & Compliance, we welcome KVKK’s initiative as a forward-thinking step toward embedding data protection into everyday life. Empowering teachers means empowering the next generation of digital citizens.
